Gregg, Jean win bronze at short-track WC

SHANGHAI, China — The Canadian men’s relay team won silver at a short-track speedskating World Cup on Sunday while Jessica Gregg and Olivier Jean added individual bronze medals.

South Korea won its first men’s relay gold of the season with a time of six minutes 48.747 seconds.

Canada was second in 6:48.832 and the Netherlands was third in 6:49.912.

Gregg, of Edmonton, finished third in the 500 metres for her first individual medal of the season.

Zhao Nannan won gold in 45.049 seconds and Chinese teammate Liu Qiuhong won silver in 45.122. Gregg took the bronze in 45.218.

Jean won his first World Cup medal of the season in the men’s 1,500 metres.

South Korea’s Noh Jinkyu took the gold in 2:18.506 and Takamido Yuzo of Japan won silver in 2:18.825. Jean won bronze in 2:18.842.
