TORONTO — Toronto Rock veteran defender Dan Ladouceur has retired after ten seasons in the National Lacrosse League, the team announced Thursday.

Ladouceur, 35, played in 136 career games in the NLL and spent his entire professional lacrosse career with the Rock, including the team’s inaugural season in 1999.

"Laddy was a great player, leader and most importantly a great symbol of what a Rock player should be on and off the floor" Rock president Brad Watters said in a statement.

Ladouceur recorded 11 assists and five goals. He also retires as the NLL career record holder in penalty minutes, with 428.

Three Roughnecks named all-star reserves

NEW YORK — Forward Tracey Kelusky, defenceman Jeff Moleski and transition player Jeff Shattler of the Calgary Roughnecks were named as reserves for the 2009 National Lacrosse League all-star game Thursday.

Edmonton Rush defenceman Ian Hawksbee was also named to the Western Division squad. Forward Jason Crosbie and defenceman Cam Woods of the Toronto Rock were named as Eastern reserves.

Earlier this week, Roughnecks forward Josh Sanderson and Rush forward Dan Teat were named to the starting lineup for the March 7 game at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Jim Veltman will coach the East all-stars while Dallas Eliuk will coach the West squad. The former players will be inducted into the league’s Hall of Fame before the game.
