The Toronto Defiant, Toronto’s official Overwatch League (OWL) team, have a home at last.

Unveiled Tuesday morning, the Defiant will call Roy Thomson Hall it’s home next season.

Traditionally the home of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Roy Thomson Hall sports a seating capacity of just over 2,600.

OverActive Media (OAM), the Defiant’s ownership group, had to find a home venue for their OWL team because next season the league will introduce homestand weekends for each of the 20 teams in the league.

In Toronto’s case, the Defiant will welcome the Paris Eternal, Florida Mayhem, London Spitfire, Philadelphia Fusion, Boston Uprising, Atlanta Reign and Washington Justice to Roy Thomson Hall on the weekend of April 18 and 19, 2020.

Additionally, Toronto will host a second weekend, on Aug. 8-9, 2020, where the Spitfire, Fusion, Eternal and New York Excelsior will come to town.

This announcement of Roy Thomson Hall and when the Defiant’s homestand weekends will be coincided with the overall announcement of the OWL’s 2020 schedule.

Here’s a look at Toronto’s schedule for next season.

Additionally, here’s a look at the Vancouver Titans’ schedule, who will host their own homestand weekends at Rogers Arena on May 16-17 and July 4-5.

Public tickets for the OWL’s 2020 campaign will go on sale next week, on Aug. 28.

The 2019 campaign is entering it’s final week of the regular season this weekend with the Titans guaranteed a playoff spot with a league-best record of 24-2. The Defiant, however, are unlikely to reach the post-season, with an 8-20 record so far.
