ST. ALBERT, Alberta — Canadian figure skating stars Jamie Sale and David Pelletier became proud parents over the weekend.
Sale gave birth to son Jesse at Sturgeon Community Hospital and Health Centre on Sunday. Jesse weighed in at seven pounds.
"Jamie and I are beyond thrilled and we’re very excited about the many expected joys of parenthood," Pelletier said on the couple’s website.
Sale, 30, and Pelletier, 32, won pairs gold amid the figure skating scandal at the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. The two were initially awarded silver but were upgraded to gold, which they shared with Russians Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, after an appeal showed judging irregularities.
Sale and Pelletier will return to the ice in December for Holiday Festival on Ice shows in Kelowna and Cranbrook, B.C., and then again in the spring for all 12 shows of Canada’s Stars on Ice tour, plus 20 shows on the U.S. tour.
