TORONTO — Canadian lightweight Sam (Hands of Stone) Stout will face Thiago Tavares at UFC 142 in Brazil on Jan. 14.

The 155-pounder from London, Ont., is coming off a knockout of the night performance in a win over veteran Yves Edwards at UFC 131 in June in Vancouver. Stout (18-6-1) has won four of his last five fights.

Tavares (20-4-1) stopped Spencer Fisher in the second round at UFC Rio in August.

English lightweight Terry Etim is also headed to Brazil to meet Edson Barboza. Etim, returning from a long injury layoff, needed just 17 seconds to submit Edward Faaloloto at UFC 138 last Saturday.

Previously announced fights on the Brazilian card include featherweight champion Jose Aldo versus Chad Mendes, and middleweight Anthony (Rumble) Johnson versus Vitor (The Phenom) Belfort.

The UFC has yet to announce which city will host UFC 142.

In UFC 141 news, former Shooto champion Luis (Beicao) Ramos will meet welterweight Matt Riddle on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.
