NEW YORK — The next stage of Strikeforce’s heavyweight tournament will take place June 18 in Dallas at the American Airlines Center.

Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair (The Demolition Man) Overeem (34-11 with one no contest) will fight Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1) while Brett (The Grim) Rogers (11-2) takes on former UFC world champion Josh Barnett (29-5).

The next chapter of the eight-man tournament, which started last month in East Rutherford, N.J., was originally set for April 9. That date has been given over to another Strikeforce card in San Diego, with two championship bouts set for the Valley View Casino Center.

Nick Diaz (24-1 will one no contest) will defend his welterweight title against England’s Paul (Semtex) Daley (26-9-2) in the main event. Gilbert Melendez (18-2) will make the second defence of his lightweight championship against Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-6-2).

The San Diego card will also feature a light-heavyweight bout between Gegard Mousasi and Mike Kyle.
