PARIS — World triple jump champion Teddy Tamgho of France has successfully undergone an operation after fracturing his left shinbone in a training session.

Tamgho landed heavily during a triple jump training session on Wednesday and was taken to the hospital.

The French Athletics Federation says the operation went well. A nail was implanted to stabilize the bone, which was further reinforced with a bone graft.

The FFA did not say how long the 24-year-old Tamgho would be sidelined.
