‘Twas the night before Christmas for sports on Twitter

Sportsnet’s abbreviated take on The Night Before Christmas through the majesty of Twitter.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house. Twitter was stirring, about things around the clubhouse.

The ornaments were hung on the tree by Genie Bouchard with care. In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap. Just settled to read the paper for a festive Vikings laugh.

A Down Under Santa, so lively and quick. With tennis season coming, a more athletic St. Nick.

Less rapid than eagles, a struggle of a reindeer match game. The New York Islanders whistled, and shouted, and tried to call them by name.

Kirk Cousins was dressed all in lights — and gingerbread men — from his head to (almost) his foot. And his clothes weren’t all tarnished with ashes and soot.

A bundle of toys, with Youppi! at the back. And he looked like a peddler having opened his pack.

His eyes, how they twinkled. His dimples, how merry. His cheeks were like roses; his nose like a cherry.

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow. And the beard of Patrik Laine’s chin was kinda white like the snow.

Andy Reid was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf. And his players laughed when they saw him in spite of themselves.

The Tiger-Cats spoke not a word, but went straight to their work. And filled all the stockings, acting like jerks.

Still, all your favourite players exclaimed, before they turned out the lights. Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
