LAS VEGAS — Lightweight champion Frankie (The Answer) Edgar made a minimum of US$162,000 for his draw with Gray Maynard at Saturday’s UFC 125.

According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the 29-year-old from New Jersey received a basic purse of $51,000. The UFC also gave both main event fighters their win bonus (another $51,000 in Edgar’s case) despite the draw and both received $60,000 for fight of the night honours.

The commission figures only represent minimum pay, since the UFC does not detail other bonuses.

Maynard collected $112,000, including a $26,000 win bonus and $60,000 for fight of the night.

Edgar was medically suspended until March 3, with the ban extended until July 1 pending clearance of a nasal fracture.

Maynard was banned until Feb. 1 because of cuts.

Lightweight Clay (The Carpenter) Guida had a good night, making $122,000, including a $31,000 win bonus and $60,000 for submission of the night. Japan’s Takanori Gomi, the man he beat, made $50,000.

Light-heavyweight Thiago Silva picked up $110,000, including a $55,000 win bonus, for his decision over Brandon (The Truth) Vera ($60,000).

Vera was suspended until July 1 pending clearance of a broken nose. Even with clearance, he can’t fight until March 3.

Thanks to a $60,000 bonus for knockout of the night, lightweight Jeremy (Lil’ Heathen) Stephens earned $96,000 for dispatching Marcus (The Irish Hand Grenade) Davis ($31,000).

Davis is banned until March 3, with the suspension extended to July 1 unless he is cleared for a nasal fracture.

South Korean welterweight Dong Hyun (Stun Gun) Kim made $70,000 for his decision over Nate Diaz ($33,000).

Middleweight Brian (All American) Stann collected $42,000, including a $21,000 win bonus, for his knockout of Chris (The Crippler) Leben ($46,000) in the co-main event.

Other fighters requiring medical clearance to avoid six-month bans are Josh Grispi (jaw), Phil Baroni (nose) and Greg Soto (shoulder).
