T.O.’s Patrick to fight at home at UFC 129

TORONTO — Toronto welterweight Claude (The Prince) Patrick will fight Daniel (Ninja) Roberts at UFC 129 on April 30.

Roberts (12-1) announced news of the Toronto matchup via Twitter.

The 30-year-old from Rockford, Ill., has won his last three UFC outings, defeating Greg Soto, Mike Guymon and Forrest Petz.

The 30-year-old Patrick (13-1) is 2-0 in the UFC with wins over James Wilks and Ricardo Funch.

The main event at the Rogers Centre features welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre against Jake Shields. UFC Hall of Famer Randy (The Natural) Couture takes on former light-heavyweight Lyoto (The Dragon) Machida in the co-main event.

NOTES: The event will feature another hometown boy as Sean Pierson takes on Brian Foster in another 170-pound bout featuring a Torontonian, sportsnet.ca has learned. Pierson is coming off a win in his UFC debut against Matthew Riddle at UFC 113 in Montreal.
