UFC lightweight Phillipe Nover has suffered a seizure, forcing the cancellation of his bout Wednesday night against London, Ont.’s Sam Stout.
The bout between Nover and Stout was scheduled for the undercard of UFC Fight Night 19 in Oklahoma City.
However, UFC president Dana White wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon: “The nover stout fight is off. Nover had a seizure in the locker room. He is ok.”
Nover is an alumnus of The Ultimate Fighter Season 8, advancing to the final but losing by unanimous decision to Efrain Escudero. During the announcement of the coaches Nover, who is a registered nurse, was seen fainting.
White wrote in his subsequent tweet: “Stout was very cool during the incident and is a class act!!”
According to MMAweekly.com, Stout will still receive some compensation from the UFC.
