Canadian bantamweight Yves Jabouin is set to take on rising contender Mike Easton, the UFC announced Monday night. The dynamic strikers will meet at UFC on FUEL TV 3, which takes place in Fairfax, Va., on May 15.
Jabouin (17-7) is coming off two consecutive split-decision wins that helped him rebound from losing three of four fights in a 19-month span. The native of Haiti, who now lives in Montreal and trains at the famed Tristar gym that’s home to welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, defeated Ian Loveland at UFC 134 in Brazil in August (in the event’s only fight not to feature a Brazilian) and he beat Walel Watson at UFC 140 in Toronto in December.
Easton (12-1) won a thrilling decision over Jared Papazian in January to extend his win streak to seven. The 28-year-old is considered one of the top prospects at 135 pounds and has notable wins over former WEC bantamweight champion Chase Beebe and recent TUF 14 bantamweight winner John Dodson.
Jabouin joins fellow Canadian Jason MacDonald on a card that is headlined by a featherweight bout between Dustin Poirier and (The Korean Zombie) Chan Sung Jung.
