LAS VEGAS — World Extreme Cagefighting has postponed a show scheduled for Sept. 2 in Youngstown, Ohio, because of an injury to main-event fighter Ben Henderson.
WEC didn’t announce the nature of Henderson’s injury. He was slated to fight Donald Cerrone for the interim lightweight title.
All 10 bouts on the card have been rescheduled for Oct. 10, although WEC hasn’t determined whether the event will be held in Youngstown.
WEC is the lower-weight mixed martial arts promotion owned by the UFC.
NOTES: Fresh off his upset win over Miguel Angel Torres on Aug. 9, bantamweight champion and Athens, Ga., native Brian Bowles will be honoured by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Bowles will throw out the ceremonial first pitch when the Braves host the San Diego Padres and will be on hand to meet fans and handle the “Play Ball” announcement duties.
