Philadelphia 76ers centre Joel Embiid has undergone surgery to repair an injury in his right thumb as well as one in his left index finger, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.

After a Game 3 victory over the Toronto Raptors in the first round, Embiid received an MRI that revealed he has a torn ligament in his thumb but did not want to go through any procedures until the off-season.

Embiid previously underwent surgery for a torn ligament in his hand in January 2021 that kept him out for nine games, though the current surgery is expected to not interfere with 76ers training camp for the All-Star.
