The Cleveland Cavaliers have hired long-time Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon as a special advisor to their front office.

“We are thrilled to add someone of José Calderón’s background and experience to our front office,” said Cavaliers President Koby Altman in a press release. “His accomplishments as a basketball player and familiarity with our organization will be invaluable. We look forward to his insights and perspective on how we can continue moving this team forward and enhancing our efforts towards sustainable and long-term success here in Cleveland.”

Calderon, 40, played 14 seasons in the NBA -- eight with the Raptors from 2005 to 2013, and one with the Cavaliers in 2017-18 when they reached the NBA Finals.

The Spanish international previously worked at the NBPA as a special assistant.

Calderon is second in all-time Raptors assists with 3,770 and first in free throw percentage at 87.7 per cent. He's also fourth in games played for the franchise with 525.
