The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without two starters for Friday's NBA Cup opener against the Toronto Raptors.
Star guard Donovan Mitchell (hamstring) and Jarrett Allen (finger) were both ruled out for the contest by head coach Kenny Atkinson pre-game after entering the day with questionable designations.
Neither has missed a game for the 3-2 Cavaliers so far this season until Friday night.
Allen's injury came during Wednesday's 125-105 loss to the Boston Celtics, which snapped Cleveland's three-game winning streak.
An X-ray on Thursday revealed a non-displaced fracture, meaning the broken bone pieces remain in their original position and are not out of alignment. The Cavaliers said Allen will undergo a series of treatments and evaluations moving forward.
Allen is averaging 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in Cleveland's first five games.
As for Mitchell, it's unclear when the injury occurred but the Cavaliers will undoubtedly miss his production. The six-time all-star is averaging 28.0 points, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals on 66.4 per cent true shooting to start the season.
The Cavaliers were already without starting point guard Darius Garland (toe) and forward Max Strus (foot) as they continue to rehab from off-season surgery.
