Boston Celtics centre Nikola Vucevic left Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks with a right ring finger fracture and didn't return, the team announced.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Vucevic is set to undergo surgery to repair his finger Saturday and miss about a month of action recovering.
Vucevic, 35, was acquired by the Celtics at the trade deadline after spending the previous four-and-a-half seasons with the Chicago Bulls.
In 59 games played split between Boston and Chicago, the veteran big man has averaged 15.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on 49.6-per-cent shooting from the field.
Friday's game saw the return of Jayson Tatum to the Celtics lineup. The four-time first-team All-NBA forward was coming back from an Achilles injury he suffered in the second round of the playoffs last year.
