DeMar DeRozan passed Vince Carter on the Toronto Raptors' all-time scoring list with a baseline fadeaway on April 16, 2016.
Now, nearly a decade later, DeRozan has passed Carter once again, this time on the NBA's all-time scoring list, leaping the fellow Raptors great into the 23rd spot.
DeRozan, known for his exceptional mid-range game and hard-to-read pump fakes, reached 25,729 points on Thursday after nailing a pair of free throws in the second quarter against the Denver Nuggets.
Stephen Curry (25,832), Kevin Garnett (26,071), and John Havlicek (26,395) are the only players standing between DeRozan and a spot amongst the top-20 scorers in NBA history.
The 36-year-old wing is also a six-time all-star, three-time All-NBA selection and has won two gold medals with Team USA.
DeRozan is also the Raptors' all-time scoring leader with 13,296. Carter is fourth at 9,420, with Kyle Lowry (10,540) and Chris Bosh (10,275) ranking second and third, respectively.
The 17-year veteran has only just started to see his production decline this season, averaging 18.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists with the Sacramento Kings. It is the first season DeRozan has averaged under 20 points since his fourth year in the league in 2012-13.
