Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Cam Thomas has been fined $40,000 by the NBA as a result of the remarks he made after Thursday's win against the Chicago Bulls.
The league's statement on the fine cited Thomas' "derogatory and disparaging language during a live television interview."
Thomas used the phrase, "No homo," in a post-game interview with TNT's Jared Greenberg.
He issued an apology on Twitter later the same night. This is the 21-year-old's first time being fined by the league.
This is far from the first instance of an NBA player off-handedly making a homophobic comment — Minnesota's Anthony Edwards was fined $40,000 during the off-season, while Kevin Durant was fined $50,000 in 2021.
