Longtime, now retired, Dallas Maverick Dirk Nowitzki will be getting a statue outside American Airlines Center, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed on Wednesday.

On Wednesday night, The Mavericks hung Nowitzki jersey in the rafters following a 99-82 win against the Golden State Warriors. There was some fanfare for the event, which included NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

Head coach Jason Kidd joked that Dallas is giving out 10-day contracts, offering the former 14-time All-Star a chance to come back.

Over the course of 21 years, Nowitzki was a cornerstone for the Mavericks franchise. In 1,522 NBA games, the German averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists, leading the Mavs to their first and only NBA Championship in 2011.
