After being dismissed and disqualified from the NBA for one year for violating terms of its anti-drug program, former Toronto Raptor Jalen Harris has signed with Italian club Vanoli Cremona, the team announced Saturday.

Harris spent 13 games with the Raptors last season after the club drafted him 59th overall in 2020, averaging 7.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while battling injuries and G League stints.

While he ended his rookie campaign on a high note, averaging 18.5 points per game in his final four games, it was announced in July that Harris would be penalized for violating the NBA's anti-drug program.

Players are dismissed and disqualified under the NBA's anti-drug policy after an individual tests positive for a "drug of abuse," according to the collective bargaining agreement. The drugs on that list are wide-ranging, but do not include marijuana or steroids, which have their own classifications. The specific nature of Harris' violation was not disclosed.

Because Harris was a rookie, the length of his dismissal was only one year, after which he'll be eligible for reinstatement. The Raptors will retain his rights and have a window to decide on signing him upon reinstatement.
