A Toronto Raptors legend has received a promotion in Cleveland.
Jose Calderon was named as an assistant general manager for the Cavaliers, the team announced on Friday.
Brandon Weems was promoted to general manager. Jon Nichols was elevated to associate general manager and Brendon Yu also became an assistant GM alongside Calderon.
Calderon played for the Raptors for seven-and-a-half seasons, averaging 10 points, 7.2 assists and shooting 38.8 per cent from three-point range.
The 44-year-old former point guard ranks fourth in Raptors franchise history in games played (525) and second in assists (3,770). His 98.1 free-throw shooting percentage in the 2008-09 season with Toronto is still an NBA record.
Born in Villanueva de la Serena, Spain, Calderon spent his second-to-last NBA season with the Cavaliers, before retiring as a member of the Detroit Pistons in 2019.
Calderon rejoined the Cavaliers in 2022 as a special advisor to the front office.
