A trio of key Memphis Grizzlies' contributors will shift their focus to the 2026-27 season.
The team announced on Tuesday that Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke are done for the remainder of the season due to their injuries, while Zach Edey underwent an additional procedure separate from what already ended his season prematurely.
Morant last played on Jan. 21 due to an elbow injury. He is set to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to help heal his UCL sprain.
The 26-year-old has had his fair share of injuries over his NBA career, never appearing in more than 67 games, which came during his rookie season. He's played in 79 contests over the last three years.
This season, Morant played in just 20 games, averaging 19.5 points, 8.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds.
Clarke will not undergo a procedure, but needs additional healing time for his calf strain that has sidelined him since Dec. 20.
The Vancouver native played just two games this year, but logged a career-best 18 starts last season. Clarke has been a mainstay in the Grizzlies' rotation over his career, appearing in at least 56 games in five of his seven seasons with the club.
However, in the two seasons he failed to reach that mark (2023, 2025) he's played a total of three games.
Edey, meanwhile, underwent a procedure to address lingering discomfort in his left elbow. His season was already over after he had surgery on his ankle on March 3.
The Toronto native was limited to just 11 games in his sophomore campaign, scoring 13.6 points per game while logging 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks a night.
All three players are expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season.
