After experiencing stiffness in his right ankle, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler left his team’s Christmas Day game against the New Orleans Pelicans and did not return.
It was not immediately clear what play led to his injury. Butler played 16 minutes in the first half, scoring four points while picking up six rebounds and five assists. He did not return for the second half.
Butler, who did not play at all during Miami’s pre-season games for rest, rolled his ankle during the Heat’s season-opening loss against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. He still managed to play 36 minutes that night, in which he notched a career-high seven steals to go along with 19 points and seven assists.
Miami’s next game takes place Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
