Brandon Miller's season could get back on track in the coming weeks.
The Charlotte Hornets announced on Monday that the third-year forward will be re-evaluated in two weeks as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.
Miller, the second overall pick in 2023, suffered the injury mid-way through the Hornets' second game of the season. Early in the second quarter of what ended up as a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, the 22-year-old appeared to have injured his shoulder while trying to get in position for a rebound under the basket. Miller grabbed his shoulder in pain and ran to the locker room before he was ultimately ruled out due to left shoulder soreness.
The Hornets confirmed on Monday that it was a subluxation (partial dislocation) of his left shoulder.
Miller left the game after just nine minutes of action, putting up four points on 2-of-6 shooting. In Charlotte's season-opening win, he racked up 25 points, seven assists a steal and a block in 30 minutes.
It's an inauspicious start for the NBA junior after he missed 55 games last season due to a torn ligament in his wrist. Through 103 NBA games (97 starts), Miller is averaging 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists on 42.8/36.4/83.2 per cent shooting splits.
The Hornets have gone 2-3 since Miller's injury and are 3-4 overall for the season.
