Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward left Monday’s game against the Toronto Raptors with a left ankle sprain and will not return, the club announced.
The injured occurred in the first quarter when Raptors wing Gary Trent Jr. landed on Hayward. With Hayward laying on the floor for two plays following the incident, Trent Jr. drove to the basket and fell on Hayward again, before Charlotte finally called a timeout.
The 31-year-old is averaging 16.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists this season.
