The Charlotte Hornets' Rookie of the Year candidate has sustained an injury.
Wing Kon Knueppel exited Charlotte's game against the Orlando Magic on Friday with a right ankle injury and was ruled unable to return, the team announced.
The 20-year-old turned his ankle badly, landing on it awkwardly after leaping while trying to block an attempted layup by Desmond Bane.
Knueppel had scored 16 points on only seven shots, including a perfect four-of-four from three-point range, before suffering the injury.
The Duke product is averaging 19.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists over 29 games.
He was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for November and became the fastest player in NBA history to make 100 threes on Dec. 22, reaching the milestone in his 29th game.
Knueppel is a frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year award, along with former Duke teammate and 2025 first-overall pick Cooper Flagg.
