Hornets' LaMelo Ball to be re-evaluated in 4 weeks after wrist surgery

Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball injures his right wrist after going up for a layup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Charlotte Hornets announced on Tuesday that rookie sensation LaMelo Ball underwent successful surgery on his fractured right wrist. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

The timeline opens up the possibility of Ball returning before the end of the regular season, which concludes in May.

Ball appeared to injure himself after falling on the court in the second half of the Hornets' loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. After the fall, he appeared to be in discomfort, often clutching his wrist, as he finished the game.

The six-foot-six point guard was a favourite to win rookie of the year, averaging 6.1 assists to lead all first-year players, and 15.9 points for second is rookie scoring.
