Los Angeles Lakers star forward Anthony Davis left Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first quarter and did not return due to back spasms.

Davis checked out with 2:50 minutes left in the opening frame and was later ruled out by the Lakers.

The 28-year-old is averaging 21.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 30 games this season. He previously missed 30 games with a calf strain.

Meanwhile, fellow Lakers star LeBron James is out with an ankle injury and could return by early next week at the earliest.

The 2020 NBA champions are currently hanging on to the last guaranteed playoff spot as the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, only .5 games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The two teams face each other tomorrow night.
