Jaxson Hayes is being punished for an interesting altercation.
The Los Angeles Lakers centre is being suspended one game without pay for pushing a Washington Wizards mascot, the league announced on Wednesday.
The incident occurred during the pre-game introductions of the Lakers' 142-11 win over the Wizards on Jan. 30.
Hayes pushed the mascot to the ground as it was exiting the court.
The 25-year-old will serve his suspension on Feb. 5 when the Lakers take on the Philadelphia 76ers.
Hayes is averaging 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds through 41 games this season.
