Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic will not play Sunday night against the Chicago Bulls due to a left quadricep contusion, according to the team.
The injury occurred in the second quarter of Dallas’ Friday night contest against the Miami Heat. Doncic had his best game of the young season that evening, dropping 27 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists in a 93-83 victory.
With fellow star Kristaps Porzingis still out as he works to return from knee surgery this month, the Mavericks will be forced to lace up against Chicago without the two biggest pieces of their team.
Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters on Sunday that Doncic could return Monday against the Houston Rockets.
“We’ll just have to see how he feels when he gets up tomorrow and if tomorrow is going to be a possibility or not,” Carlisle said.
