Another Nico Harrison decision has come back to haunt the Dallas Mavericks.
Mavericks guard Danté Exum will undergo a season-ending knee surgery, the team announced on Thursday.
Exum needs a follow-up procedure after complications from an off-season right knee operation.
The Australian-native signed a one-year deal with the Mavericks this past September, but did not appear in any games. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Last season Exum played in only 20 games, averaging 8.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He was sidelined in March due to a broken bone in his right hand.
Exum was the fifth overall pick by Utah in 2014. He played four-plus seasons with the Jazz, not counting the 2015-16 season he missed because of injuries. Exum was with Cleveland before going overseas.
The Mavericks currently sit 13th place in the Western Conference at 4-12, and are already without key players like Kyrie Irving (knee) and Anthony Davis (calf) for the foreseeable future.
Dallas' next game is at home against the Western Conference's worst New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night.
