Canada's Dalano Banton is once again looking for an NBA home.
The Dallas Mavericks have waived the Rexdale, Ont. native, along with forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and veteran guard Dennis Smith Jr., the team announced on Friday.
Banton, 25, spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 8.3 points, 2.4 assists and two rebounds over 67 games. He was one of 21 Canadians on opening-day rosters last season.
The Mavericks are now down to two Canadians on their roster — Dwight Powell and Ryan Nembhard — after also waiving Montreal's Olivier Maxence-Prosper in the summer.
Banton, a six-foot-nine swingman, was originally selected by his hometown Toronto Raptors in the second round (46th overall) of the 2021 draft.
In 216 career games with the Raptors, Boston Celtics and Trail Blazers, Banton has recorded 6.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and two assists per contest.
He may end up sticking around the Mavericks organization despite being waived, however, as his NBA G League rights are held by the Texas Legends, Dallas' affiliate ball club.
