New York took the wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference over the Miami Heat by holding the tiebreaker because of their point differential in the preliminary round.
The Boston Celtics clinched Group C after beating the Chicago Bulls 124-97 and the Brooklyn Nets beating the Toronto Raptors. They also had a better point differential than the Nets and Orlando Magic which allowed them to advance.
The Pacers earned home-court advantage over the Celtics because of their higher point differential in play-in tournament games.
