The NBA and the National Basketball Players' Association have mutually agreed to extend the deadline to opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement to March 31.
The previous deadline was Feb. 8, which was extended from the original deadline of Dec. 15. The CBA will expire on June 30 if neither side chooses to opt out early.
The NBA says in a statement that both sides are continuing to negotiate a new agreement.
The NBA has not had a lockout since 2011. Some of the issues being negotiated, according to The AP, include allowing high school players to directly enter the NBA Draft again and other rules to tighten teams' payroll spending.
