While Toronto Raptors fans will debate whether the team paid too much to acquire Thaddeus Young, the biggest story of Thursday's NBA trade deadline was a reported blockbuster between the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.
The deal -- which has not been confirmed yet by either team -- sees former MVP James Harden move to the Sixers from the Nets for a package that included all-star Ben Simmons, guard Seth Curry and centre Andre Drummond.
The Nets now have a new Big 3 with Simmons joining Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in Brooklyn, a move Durant says he's "excited" about.
"I'm excited for our team, looking forward to finishing the season out with this new group and these new playoffs. The playoffs are right around the corner so we have to fast track getting used to each other," Durant said in an interview on TNT during the NBA all-star draft. "I'm excited, I think everyone got what they wanted."
Harden was acquired by the Nets in January of 2021 in a blockbuster deal with the Houston Rockets. But things never really clicked and in recent weeks reports began to circulate that he was interested in joining Joel Embiid in Philadelphia. The match made sense from a 76ers perspective too as Simmons has been away from the team all season after requesting a trade over the summer.
Now both stars will seemingly be going to places where they'll feel wanted.
