Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving will miss a second consecutive game Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies due to personal reasons.
As of Thursday night, Nets head coach Steve Nash did not know the exact reason why Irving was unavailable. Guard Caris LeVert said Irving texted his teammates before Thursday’s game and they supported his absence.
Irving is averaging 27.1 points, 6.1 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game in 2020-21.
Fellow superstar Kevin Durant is also sidelined for Brooklyn because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols regarding COVID-19. Durant would be able to return Sunday if he continues to test negative for the coronavirus until then.
