The Denver Nuggets are preparing to play without Canadian star guard Jamal Murray for an extended period.
Coach Michael Malone told reporters Monday that Murray's hamstring strain is not a "one- or two-game injury," per Katy Winge of Altitude TV.
A native of Kitchener, Ont., Murray exited Saturday's game against the Chicago Bulls in the first half.
Murray is averaging 16.3 points and 7.4 assists in seven games this season for the Nuggets.
The 26-year-old missed the entire 2021-22 season with an ACL injury.
Murray averaged 20 points last season and then helped the Nuggets win the NBA title last when he averaged 26.1 points in the playoffs.
The Nuggets lead the NBA with a record of 7-1 this season.
