Patrick Beverley announced on Tuesday that he is heading back to where his professional basketball career began — overseas.
A few days after his 36th birthday, the veteran guard shared on X that he plans to sign with the Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israeli Premier League.
Exact terms of the new contract have yet to be disclosed, however the Pat Bev Pod account wrote in a previous tweet, that Beverley was deciding between an NBA veteran's minimum contract — around 1.2 million per year — versus a 'historic' deal with the Israeli club.
The account later posted a video that teased an upcoming episode for the podcast where Beverley took to the mic to shed some light on some potential factors that played into his decision-making.
"The money they're throwing around, Rone, I didn't even have to negotiate for it," Beverley said to his co-host, Adam Ferrone. "They're literally giving me anything I want... they're willing to push the [podcast], they're willing to sell merch in the arena, they're willing to do a lot of stuff."
After playing college hoops with Arkansas of the NCAA, the undrafted Beverley made stops in Greece and Russia before landing a full-time NBA job, beginning with the Houston Rockets in 2012. He went on to suit up for seven teams throughout his 12-year NBA tenure.
Beverley registered 8.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists across 666 career NBA games and earned All-Defensive honours three times — including a first-team selection in 2016-17.
