The Detroit Pistons are once again set to be without a key guard.
Jaden Ivey will miss at least four weeks after undergoing a procedure to relieve right knee discomfort, the team said on Thursday.
Ivey, 23, played just 30 games last season as he dealt with a fibula injury. However, the team said the injuries are not connected to one another.
The 2022 fifth overall picked averaged a career-high 17.6 points and 4.1 rebounds to go with four assists per game when he did manage to see the court last season.
For his 181-game career, Ivey has put up 16.1 points, 4.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 42.9 per cent from the floor and 35.7 per cent from three-point range.
The injury represents a blow to the Pistons, who are looking to build off a resurgent 44-38 campaign last season.
Off-season addition Caris LeVert could be among the options to fill in for Ivey while he is sidelined.
