The Toronto Raptors are the first Canadian major sports team to enter the NFT space.
The collection will be available for a limited time between July 23 and 28 and range from three different levels including Limited Edition, Rare to Legendary based on scarcity. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the MLSE Foundation and its ‘Change the Game’ campaign.
Each level will unlock different experiences and access to the team including exclusive courtside seats, in-game suites and tickets, court time at Scotiabank Arena, access to the Larry O’Brien Trophy, a meet and greet with the front office, and other prizes during the 2021-2022 season.
The Raptors initially teased the collection back on July 16 with some fans thinking that it was an indication of president Masai Ujiri returning to the team.
The NFT collection was developed by the MLSE Digital Labs can be found at Raptors.DropShop.io and prices start at $30 starting July 23rd. Legendary and Rare NFTs will be auctioned and the winning bid will be determined on July 28th at 6 p.m. ET.
How does the NFT collection work?
The Raptors created six uniquely themed keys that can unlock virtual and physical experiences around the team. The physical experiences are based on the themes for each key: The City, The Team, The Players, The Past, The Future and The Game.
Each NFT contained a redeemable experience for the 2021-2022 season, that can be used once it is determined safe to do so by all government levels and local public health officials.
