Toronto Raptors guard Malachi Flynn has been named the NBA's Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for April.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, drafted first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, took home the honours in the West.

Flynn, who the Raptors selected 29th overall in last year's draft, averaged 12.7 points, 4.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds in April. He earned seven starts and saw an increase in minutes as both Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet missed time throughout the month.

He's the 10th Raptor to win the award, the first since Norman Powell in April 2016.

Edwards, a Rookie of the Year candidate, averaged 21.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.3 rebounds in April.
