Toronto Raptors small forward OG Anunoby will miss Friday's game against the Charlotte Hornets and possibly longer with a broken right ring finger.
The team confirmed the news in its most recent update to the injury report.
Anunoby had been a full participant at practice Wednesday and Thursday as the club ramps back up from the All-Star break.
OG's finger was sore 'for a while' before All-Star break. X-ray this week showed a 'small fracture'. No timeline for now on when he injured it or how long he will be out. Anunoby shot 28% (16% from 3) in 3 games before All-Star; was shooting 50% (43% from 3) in 10 games prior. https://t.co/RHbHp5FSBr

The 24-year-old has been limited to only 42 games this season due to an earlier hip injury and a stint in COVID-19 protocols. In those games, however, he has been a key player for the Raptors – averaging a career-high 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 43 per cent from the field.
Fred VanVleet will play (knee); Khem Birch will join the starting lineup in Anunoby's place.

Earlier, the Raptors had said All-Star guard Fred VanVleet was questionable to play Friday with knee soreness. The ailment kept him out of the lineup before the All-Star break but VanVleet was able to participate in all activities in Cleveland last weekend. He ended up taking the floor for Friday's game.
