The Toronto Raptors have signed guard D.J. Carton to a two-way contract, the same day his initial 10-day contract had expired, the team announced Saturday.
Carton was signed by the Raptors to a 10-day deal on Feb. 21 following an impressive NBA G League season with the Iowa Wolves prior. The 23-year-old averaged 18.6 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds through 35.4 minutes a game in the G League.
With the Raptors, Carton has appeared in two games, averaging four points and an assist in 5.5 minutes of action.
On Friday, the Raptors announced they had converted guard Javon Freeman-Liberty to a standard NBA contract, thus freeing up a two-way spot, and the team wasted little time filling it, and retaining Carton, less than 24 hours later.
The other two-way contracts on the roster belong to guard Markquis Nowell and forward Jontay Porter. Meanwhile, with Carton on a two-way deal, there is now one final open roster spot for Toronto to fill for the remainder of the season.
