The Toronto Raptors signed forward Gabe Brown on Wednesday, the team announced, affording them the chance to have yet another player with length in their development pipeline.

The Raptors did not officially disclose the length or value of the contract. However, according to Sportsnet's Blake Murphy, Brown was signed to an Exhibit 10 deal — a minimum, non-guaranteed deal to come to camp.

Brown, as Murphy notes, could make the NBA-level team but it is likelier that the deal was done to secure his G League rights, as well as opening up the possibility of him earning a $50,000 bonus if he stays with the Raptors 905.

Signing Brown gives the Raptors a full camp roster of 20 players, though they could still waive a player to add more Exhibit 10 deals, or make cuts early at camp to open up spots for other Exhibit 10s later in the camp process.

Brown, who at 6-foot-8 and 215 pounds immediately fits the length-based mould the Raptors have sought in their forwards during this iteration of the team, enjoyed measured success during his collegiate career at Michigan State. The 22-year-old was selected to the All-Big Ten Third Team last season after averaging 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 28.9 minutes in 36 games. At times, he showed flashes of being a viable shooter, connecting on 42.8 per cent of his attempts overall and 38.2 per cent from long range.

A native of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Brown averaged 7.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 20.1 minutes in 124 career games (57 starts) during four seasons (2018-22) with the Spartans.
