Gillespie, who was voted the Big 12 Most Improved Player and earned All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Defensive Team honours during his senior year with Baylor, has played five games with the Raptors this season. He's averaged 5.8 points on 61.9 per cent shooting, as well as 4.2 rebounds.
Terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, in accordance with team policy. Historically, 10-day deals are often worth a prorated portion of the league minimum salary. In 2021 the value for a full one-year minimum deal is $898,000.
A player can sign as many as two 10-day contracts with a team before the franchise has to either commit to them for the rest of the season or cut them, at which point they become a free agent. Gillespie signed his first 10-day contract with the Raptors on April 8.
Prior to joining Toronto, the six-foot-nine forward averaged 10.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks across 15 games with the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G League bubble.
