Raptors small underdogs at Wizards for Wednesday's game

The Toronto Raptors will be looking to continue their climb up the Eastern Conference standings with a fifth straight win when they visit the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night as 3-point underdogs on the NBA odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Toronto is coming off a decisive 113-104 road win over the New York Knicks on Monday night, and is now unbeaten in three away contests so far this season going into Wednesday night's matchup at Capital One Arena. And the Raptors have defied the oddsmakers while emerging as early-season road warriors, with their victories in Boston, Indiana, and New York all coming while set as clear underdogs at online betting sites.

An explosive offence has been key to the Raptors' current four-game tear, as Toronto has averaged just under 110 points per game over its four recent wins. And the Raptors have been led by OG Anunoby, who racked up a career-best 36 points in Monday night's victory at Madison Square Garden and is now averaging a team-best 20.3 points per game.

Scottie Barnes has also been impressive during his NBA debut. The Raptors' top pick in the 2021 draft tallied his second double-double of the season on Saturday, and now sits near the top of the Rookie of the Year betting lines as a rapidly improving +400 second favourite. However, Barnes missed Monday's game with a thumb injury and won't play on Wednesday.

The Raptors are likely to need big offensive performances against the Wizards, who enter Wednesday's contest sporting an unblemished 3-0 SU record on home court this season. Washington impressed early on, opening its schedule on a 5-1 SU run, but will be aiming to atone for Monday night's 118-111 loss in Atlanta.

Like Toronto, the Wizards have exceeded expectations in the early going, with four of their five wins to date coming while set as the betting underdogs. That includes a decisive 98-83 victory as 2.5-point underdogs in the Raptors' home opener back on October 20.

However, Washington's home success has come by the narrowest of margins, with the team needing overtime to eke out victories over the Pacers and the Celtics. And while the Wizards have tallied two straight road wins over the Raptors, they have dropped 11 of their last 12 SU to Toronto on home hardwood, going 3-9 against the spread over that stretch, according to the OddsShark NBA Database.
