The Toronto Raptors' depth chart is beginning to fill out.
D.J. Carton played for the Raptors 905 Wednesday for the first time since Nov. 11 after being sidelined with an ankle sprain.
Carton, 24, started for the Raptors' G League affiliate as they hosted the Maine Celtics.
Toronto signed the six-foot-two guard to a 10-day contract in February last season and liked what they saw in his brief stint with the team, signing him to a two-way deal in March.
Carton has appeared in eight total games with the Raptors over the past two seasons, averaging 1.8 points in 8.6 minutes. He averaged 18.6 points and 5.7 assists while shooting 39.5 per cent from distance with the G League’s Iowa Wolves last season.
Each team is able to sign three players with fewer than four years of NBA experience to two-way contracts, enabling them to be active for up to 50 games on the NBA roster.
