Raptors' VanVleet 10th in Eastern Conference voting for All-Star guards

Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet is 10th in Eastern Conference voting for his position for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game.

VanVleet was the only Raptor on the list released on Thursday. Former Raptors star DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls was far ahead of other guards at No. 1. Among the players also ahead of VanVleet were LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets, Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets, who has played one game this year, and Derrick Rose of the New York Knicks, who is out after undergoing ankle surgery.

Kevin Durant of the Nets was the leading vote-getter for the Eastern Conference front court. In the West, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers led the front court, while Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors led the guards.

Half of the voting totals by fans is used to determine the starting lineups; active players and members of the media determine the other half.

VanVleet is averaging 21.3 points and 6.7 assists in 32 games this seasn.

The NBA All-Star Game is scheduled Feb. 20, in Cleveland.

The Raptors are back in action on Friday when they host the Utah Jazz.
