Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet and forward Scottie Barnes will participate in next week’s NBA Skills Competition.
VanVleet, who will also take part in his first NBA All-Star Game the following day, is one of eight players set to compete in the MTN DEW 3-Point Contest.
Barnes joins fellow rookies Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons and Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. Additionally, Alex Antetokounmpo from the G League’s Raptors 905 will link up with his brothers, Giannis and Thanasis from the Milwaukee Bucks, for that event.
There will be a new Slam Dunk champion with Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony, Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green and Golden State Warriors forward Juan Toscano-Anderson make their debuts and New York Knicks forward Obi Toppin looking to improve upon his runner-up finish to Anfernee Simons last year.
The NBA Skills Competition goes down Saturday, Feb. 19, followed by the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 20, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
